IDE SINGLE CHIP DRIVE (iSCD)
Embedded Flash Storage Providing True IDE Support in Ultra-Compact Designs

The IDE Single Chip Drive (iSCD) combines a standard IDE (Parallel ATA) interface with the latest Single Level Cell NAND Flash technology in a 50-ball BGA package, making it ideal for designers who are seeking the smallest available solid state storage solution in parallel ATA format.
Resource Center
The standard IDE interface provides for short design cycles and fast time to market, making it an ideal storage solution for applications such as handheld devices, Point of Sales (POS), Gaming, Networking equipment, and GPS.

Designers that have traditionally been using CompactFlash, due to its ease-of-integration and standard IDE interface, now have an alternative solution. If there is no true need for a removable storage device, the iSCD can lower the bill of material and manufacturing costs, as designers can remove larger, more costly ATA connectors from their board and save real estate as well as reduce costly manufacturing steps.

SMALL FORM FACTOR

Single Chip Drive is available in a 50-ball package and is available with either a single flash device, or two stacked flash devices by using STEC's patented IC Tower® Stacking Technology. The USB Single Chip Drive is available in a 12mm x 21mm x 3mm package (5.0mm for stacked package); the IDE Single Chip Drive is offered in a 21mm x 19mm x 3mm package (4.8mm for stacked package).

HIGHEST CAPACITY

STEC's patented IC Tower® Stacking Technology make it possible to provide the Single Chip Drive in capacities up to 4GB, the highest in the industry.

LIFE CYCLE MANAGEMENT

The Life Cycle Management feature can be used as an indicator on the wear-out of the flash chips that are used and provides a feedback mechanism on the remaining life span of the Single Chip Drive.
STANDARD COMPLIANCE

Single Chip Drive complies with CE requirements, FCC standards, and has been approved by the UL organization. Single Chip Drive is provided in lead-free (RoHS-6) version only.

HIGH RELIABILITY

STEC's proprietary state-of-the-art flash memory controller is incorporated in the Single Chip Drive, providing high data reliability and endurance. The built-in ECC engine can detect up to 5-byte errors and correct up to 4-byte errors, while sophisticated wear leveling algorithms guarantee +2M Write/Erase Cycles. Based on SLC Flash and high quality components, the Single Chip Drive provides an unparalleled guaranteed MTBF of more than 8,000,000 hrs.
